Man Dies from Fall on Galveston Cruise Ship

We’re sad to report that a passenger aboard the Carnival Magic has died after falling three stories from a balcony.

The details are still sparse. What we do know from news reports is that while the Magic was on its way to Roatan, Honduras from Galveston, a 39-year-old man who was sitting on the protective railing fell from his cabin balcony onto an open deck below.

It’s a sad and unfortunate event, but it should serve as a reminder to all passengers to use common sense while cruising.

Cruise ships are made to be ultra-safe for passengers. There are numerous features onboard designed to protect you like high railings, anti-slip footing, and hand railings everywhere. However, that doesn’t mean you don’t have to still use common sense while sailing. You’re aboard a ship that has as many as 15 decks and floats on a constantly moving sea that can be thousands of feet deep.

Combine that with the fact that many people enjoy drinks on a cruise, and it’s actually a surprise more people don’t get hurt.

Stay safe.
